As a stylist, I’m always thinking about quality over quantity and choosing pieces that will actually last in your wardrobe. That’s exactly why I rarely recommend pure white clothing, especially white button ups.

I know the classic white button up is considered a must have essential, but honestly, light blue has always felt more elevated and just as essential to me.

Stark white tends to show everything. Stains, fading, yellowing. Over time it can lose that crisp, expensive look pretty quickly. To get that timeless, effortless luxury feel with pieces that still look beautiful years later, I usually make two swaps and keep three exceptions.

The Longevity Swaps:

  • Egret & Beige

  • These creamy neutrals instantly feel richer and softer while being much more forgiving for everyday wear.

Light Blue

  • My favorite alternative to a white button up. It gives the same polished, tailored feel but looks softer, more effortless, and holds up so much better over time.

The Only 3 White Pieces Worth the Investment:

  • The Base

A simple tee or tank for layering.

  • The Footwear

Crisp white sneakers or shoes to balance tailored looks.

  • The Statement

  • A bold outerwear piece like a white denim jacket.

Luxury style shouldn’t feel high maintenance or disposable. It should feel effortless, timeless, and built to last.
